Helen's Helpers
Helen was the first canine helper that we had at the offices. She survived terrible abuse, being a bait dog, malnutrition and cancer without ever losing her love of people. In fact, the next morning after having her cancer removed and damage to her face repaired surgically, she refused to stay home and even though she was too weak to climb onto the couch she limped to the couch and motioned to be lifted in place, cone and all. She passed suddenly December 2017. Though she is gone, she inspired us in her life and in her death to continue to look for abused and or neglected survivor animals and train them how to be therapeutic helpers. She may be gone but her legacy continues through her work.
