Serve the Servants Fund
CCC believes that we are all interdependent of one another; each giving and taking as part of a larger community; each with our own strengths and weaknesses; but none of us holding all the tools to be truly independent of the greater community. Some of us are talented in the arts, others in the trades; some have a great deal of financial resources while many are just getting by. In our current environment, money and connections equal power and power equals greater access to things that most of us could only imagine. This system works well for those who are in control, but what of those of us who lack these commodities? Do the family members of the governor, president or other rich and connected individual deserve more access to care than someone who is barely eking out a living? Does the value of a person come from a bank balance? CCC feels that the answer is an easy “no.” With this in mind, CCC has decided to challenge the current system and with the Serve the Servants (STS) fund.
The STS fund seeks to challenge the current power dynamic by severing client’s dependence on insurance and other third party payment systems whose goal is not to provide the highest quality of care, but to provide its shareholders with the “healthiest” bottom lines. This is achieved not by acting smarter, but by cutting costs through denying care to those in need. This happens to everyone who depends on insurance, not just the poor and working poor; thus the STS fund is open to all who are in need.
How the STS fund works:
Community minded individuals who currently volunteer in the community at not –for-profit organizations can exchange some or all of the costs of counseling through the amount of community service they provide. It’s that simple: give to the community and the community will give to you. Clients perform from 1.5 to 4 hours of community service for every free session they receive from CCC (based on client age, ability, and services required).
How the STS fund is funded: The STS fund is funded through donations to CCC from the community. Individuals, corporations, clients and staff donate what they can so that others can receive the highest quality community based treatment possible. Each and every donation to CCC is totally tax deductible as we are a 501 C(3) not for profit corporation.
Fees\openings and Details:
The therapist providing the service is paid a percentage of the rate established by the State of Connecticut for services provided to therapists who serve the Department of Children and Families (DCF) based upon a therapeutic hour. The remaining percentage goes toward paying for the office space, administrative assistance and related expenses. Therapists are not paid for “down time” or other administrative time. The money collected goes directly toward providing direct services to clients. Currently, the Clinical/Executive Director positions is not salaried. Doc Warren is paid only for sessions he personally provides to clients.
Openings for the STS fund are based upon funds available in the account. The more that is collected from donations means that more free sessions can be offered.
STS fund applications are given only in person at the office. They, like all CCC services, are available by appointment only.
